As the school year comes to a close I am beginning to look back and see how much progress was made this year. We’ve completed math and have started the books for next year. We have finished A Childs Geography Explore His Earth. We are still puttering along in Truth Quest History, but we like spending so much time on each time period. Works for us 🙂 We have been focused on spelling and writing lately.
Yet those accomplishments mean nothing without growth in other areas. Are we bearing fruit in the areas that count? Love, patience, gentleness, peacefulness, kindness, self control? Are they feeling joy?
I am evaluating not just where we are at academically, but most importantly, spiritually.
What does it matter if if they have all the knowledge in the world without wisdom? Or love?
What does it matter if they can master math, but not life?
What does it matter if they know books, but not The Book?
Their hearts matter. Head knowledge without heart knowledge is nothing.
So as I continue to parent my children, I will continue to evaluate their hearts, and keep them pointed to the ultimate Teacher.
We are, as a family, continuing to pursue Him above all…
