A school year preview?

This morning we spent about an hour just doing some light school work and getting back into the swing of things.  We will have our official “first day” in September, but right now I want to ease into a full schedule.

First we all gathered on the couch and did some Bible reading together.  We have had a rough few weeks, with fighting brothers and sisters, attitudes, etc.  Everyone was in 2 weeks of full day camp at church, and Mommy was helping with that, so we were all tired.  However, being tired isn’t an excuse for poor behavior.  So today we read some verses together and discussed them.  It was a  really sweet time together.  We read from Ephesians 6 and 1 Corinthians 13:13.

Then we spent about an hour doing a few workbook pages,  and then reading from “If You Were There When They Signed The Consitution.”  I told the kids then to put on play for me depicting the Constitutional Convention.  That was quite amusing and fun for everyone, although the play never really got off the ground…it was fun trying. 🙂

The kids also spent some time with Ethan playing blocks and teaching him his colors.  They were delighted when he held up a green block and shouted, “GREEEEEN!”  I am hoping this year to have Grace spend a half an hour or so each day “teaching” Ethan.  This will be especially helpful when I am needing some one on one time with the boys in their lessons.

This morning made me look forward to the school year with a bit of excitement.  I am ready to begin another year and see what plans for us God has!

John reading to me

“GREEEN!”

The steps of a man are established by the LORD,
And He delights in his way.”

Psalm 37:23
