Why Less Is More…

Please forgive my lack of new posts this week. I am busily preparing for 6 upcoming speaking events! Here is one from the archives that I am reposting.
An odlie, but goodie..




Less stuff makes us dependent on Him.

Less clutter makes us clearly see Him.

The less we have of this world, the more we can focus on Him.


Nothing here can fill us like He can….

If there were a catastrophe tomorrow, what would really matter?
Not much…except our family and Him…

There is very little we need…yet the world deceives us…making us feel we need so much….

I recently read a letter from one of our church missionaries who was serving in Japan at the time of the earthquake and tsunami.  She wrote that the Japanese people are very dependent on their material items, and when she saw all of the piles of destruction….in the end, nothing mattered.  It was merely piles of “rubbish.”

Piles of rubbish.
Things that makes us feel secure. Falsely. 
Things that make us feel important. Falsely.
Things that make us feel filled up. Temporarily.


We already have SO much…we have HIM…for eternity!

I challenge you this summer, take a look around, evaluate your home and your “stuff.”
What do you truly need?

Fill up on Him…
Spend these summer days, immersed in Him, abiding in Him, using free time to see Him….

See Him, even in the storms of life…the things that draw us closer to HIM, so that we realize we depend on HIM, and not this world.

Nothing, absolutely nothing, is more important than living for HIM.

I yearn for simplicity because it clears my mind of so many distractions that deceive me of what I am really living for….


Simple home, 
simple family times, 
simple living….

It is all I want my life to be…

So I can simply live…for Him!

Steps to reducing clutter:

1. Take one room at a time.
2. Start small.
3. Decide what you really need, and what can be a distraction from what is important.

Let’s do it…Let’s simply live…for Him!
