I’ve always wanted less things, so that I could DO more things-of eternal value. Having Less and Doing More is my tag line on this site. Well God makes us walk the walk…
My husband has been out of work for a 3.5 months now. Beyond the amazing faithfulness of God, I am learning so much. I was thinking about that tag line, “Having Less and Doing More” this morning and it just all made sense.
I can’t focus on the “haves” these days besides our daily needs. And that is enough. He has shown me what are needs and what are wants.
I also can focus though on being rich where it counts- in the eternal. Doing things that matter. Pursuing relationships with people. Giving glory to God in all things.
Because I have less, I am forced to rely more on Him and do more things for Him.
I wouldn’t trade this situation for the world. As much as I am ready for it to be over, I know that God is in control, and that comforts me. I wouldn’t trade the situation because I have learned so much. I have grown closer to the Lord than ever, and I am forced to focus on Him.
I think that is right where He wants me.
I have less. Yet I have SO much more. I am satisfied in Him– what a gift. SO I can choose to look at this situation and say, “Lord what do you want me to do since I am in this situation?” Or I can grumble about being in the situation.
I choose Him.
I am incredibly grateful for all He is teaching us. Right now we are learning to literally rely on Him DAILY for our needs. And He ALWAYS provides.
So I really do not have less—I have gained MORE than I ever imagined.
I still look forward to the day when God relieves us from this situation, yet while in it, I do not suffer, for I KNOW the plans He has are always for good.
