Ten Things I Want You to Know About Homeschooling • Ep 68

This episode is for homeschoolers and non-homeschoolers.

Today I am chatting about the things I really want you to know about homeschooling. For the past twelve school years, homeschooling has really evolved in my life from something I ran from to something I couldn’t imagine not doing. I am an advocate for homeschooling and am passionate about encouraging others to see it in a light that isn’t quite as complicated as it seems.

Join me today to hear all the ins and outs, the good, bad and ugly, and why we continue on this journey that often has taught us about so much more than academics.

Episode Highlights

•It won’t save your children

•I believe it is best for MY family. What about yours?

•It isn’t picture perfect and it is not supposed to be.  We are discipling our children not staging a photo

•Academics is merely a portion of the big picture

•You don’t have to have a teaching degree

•Your children will not be socialized normally and thats a GOOD thing –

•The hard days are necessary

•You aren’t equipped to homeschool

•It will cost you. Every hour you put into it has an eternal investment beyond compare.

Jesus is Enough

This summer, I am hosting a women’s retreat in Gettysburg, PA. In a world of excess, we are going to focus on that fact that Jesus is enough. The world will tell you YOU are enough. But truly, HE is enough. He is all we need. We don’t rely on ourselves, or earthly comforts, but on Him alone.  I have lived with it all stripped away, and I have seen that yes, Jesus is enough. In fact, Jesus is MORE than enough.

Your gentle tone of voice is such a Blessing. I used to have more of a gentle voice myself when I was very young. I greatly dissapointed myself.
Now I am seeking God more, for I failed to do so as a novice mother, and I want to go back to that gentle voice. But besides this, I really just wanted to comment on several things you said that hit home. “We are not staging a photo, we are raising disciples.” Our outside world is just the opposite. The other thing was the life lessons outside the academic learning that cannot be recorded. And something else you said, that in a tough time of homeschooling the thought of putting them back in school or looking at the school bus as it drove by has happened before but that it’s not the solution when we know that homeschooling is what’s best for our family. And lastly that it is costly. Not only monetarily but also mentally challenging, and in many other ways.

    I really enjoyed your podcast!!

    God bless!!

thank you for listening! I am so glad you enjoyed it. Do not be disappointed in yourself. My voice is gentle for the recording but that doesn’t mean I don’t raise it (and repent!) at times! 😉
Be blessed as you follow the Lord’s plan or your life…
