This morning when I went to get on the internet the wifi was not working. I tried the usual fixes to work out the problem, but I just kept getting error messages.
So I went for the sure fire way to fix it:
I turned the wifi off and on again.
Voila! It worked. Sometimes technology is a little simpler than we realize. All the fixes I tried and it was as simple as turning it off and restarting it again.
Aren’t we just like that? We can all use a little rebooting sometimes.
I love this quote:
When I began our Simply Living for Him Retreat planning last year, I truly pictured just that. Women coming together to unplug for a bit and to recharge. I had actually originally called the retreat an “Unplugged Retreat.” However, I realized I didn’t want to make it all about the unplugging, nor did I want to police anyone that chose to bring their phones, etc. How each woman chose to take advantage of the weekend was entirely up to her.
But it is so true. Sometimes we just need to take a time away from it all to really see life more clearly. To step away from the noise, the clutter, the distractions….whatever may be hindering you the days.
We need to seek the Lord in a quiet place of rest and peace. A little time to truly listen without all of the noise of this world.
Women are so busy these days, whether it is working, mothering, homemaking, grandmothering, learning as a student…no matter what stage of life, we all need to stop and remember what we are living for…WHOM we are living for!
We need to step back and take our eyes off of this world and simply direct our gaze toward Him.
I love the hymn Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus:
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.
That is my mission for this year’s Simply Living for Him Retreat. To encourage each woman to turn away from the things of this world, to turn toward Him, and focus on what is most important. Finally, then, to learn how to walk in it and turn our eyes upon Him each moment of each day.
Are you in need of a time of recharging? Are you feeling like you can’t get a handle on the day to day? Or do you just want to get away for some quiet and rest? Wherever you are these days, I would encourage you to take some time this summer to rest and recharge. Sometimes we don’t even realize how much we need that time until we are there.
I hope you would consider joining us this summer for our Simply Living for Him Retreat. We provide a time for women to take much-needed break to recharge and refocus. Because it is true…sometimes you just need to unplug in order to work again.
