Have you used A Journey Through Learning’s Lapbooks before? Well, now there is a new twist on the lapbook…A Journey Through learning’s new Digi Folios. They are all done digitally-no cutting, pasting, or printing!
We have used the Binder Builders from A Journey Through Learning for TurthQuest history. This year we have been learning about Pioneers and Indians, and have enjoyed this supplement to our curriculum. Usually every other week we work on some pages, and they help provide a hands on way to present the information learned.
I was excited when I saw these DigiFolios since my older children love to use the computer, and with a graphic designer husband, they enjoy using graphic design programs.
Here are how the Digi Folios work:
You receive the files in a zip file, and you then unzip the pages individually giving you many pages to pick and choose from for your DigiFolio.
We chose the American Presidents. Some other choices are Farm Animals, Current Events, The Election Process, and more. Click here to see the full list of products. Then it is recommended that you choose a program in which to create your DigiFolio. Some suggestions were paint.net, Photoshop, or even Word.. I actually decided to use Power Point. We have used this often and the kids enjoy making presentations. With Power Point, we were able to add the text and photos in, but not so many other fancy graphics. Yet it made a beautiful slide show and then can be printed out if we choose.
Here are some screen shots of what we did with it:
Overall, we enjoyed these as something new and different. When I asked the kids, they said they still do enjoy cutting, pasting, and making a “real” book, but they really enjoyed this as something different. If you are a fan of lapbooks, or have any kids who love computer time-go ahead and try the DigiFolios! They are a really neat way to learn! Plus, your kids can gain computer experience with different programs- certainly a much needed skill.
I have the opportunity to give away FIVE DigiFolios! This contest will run from Feb 1st-Feb4th! Enter NOW! This is a GREAT opportunity to win a new and exciting product! CLICK BELOW WHERE IT SAYS “READ MORE” IF YOU DO NOT SEE THE RAFFLECOPTER ENTRY FORM! a Rafflecopter giveaway
