Heart of the Matter Online…

Here is my latest article at Heart of the Matter Online…

Homeschooling is a journey. One that can be compared at first to perhaps looking out at the sea, and feeling curious about what is out there. It looks so beautiful, inviting, and exciting. So you touch the water with your toe, but then you feel the first sting of the coldness. You hesitate for a moment, but are still drawn to the water. So you slowly start to wade in, and all of a sudden the sting of the water is gone, and you feel more comfortable. The excitement up ahead of the waves keeps drawing you in, so you continue to walk out further. You get knocked down a few times, struggle for breath, but then you always return to the surface. Feeling more confident after each wave, you keep going. Sure some of the waves are really big and scary, but eventually you hit the part where the sea calms down, the waves have passed, and now you are enjoying the surroundings. You enjoy the beauty of it, the confidence of getting through the waves, and at last, you are free to float in the water.

Heart of the Matter Online Conference

I had the privilege yesterday to speak the the Heart of the Matter Online Conference.  If you aren’t familiar with Heart of the Matter Online, I urge you to check out their site.  They are an amazing ministry for homeschool families.  They have a website chock full of resources, with daily articles posted by homeschool moms.  (I have a monthly article as well!)  They also do these awesome online conferences during the year, enabling you to hear presentations from the best experts out there such as Amanda Bennett, Dianne Craft, Dr. Jay Wile, Carol Barnier, Leigh Bortins, and Kendra Fletcher to name just a few from this conference and ones in the past. I am privileged to have been a speaker amongst these highly respected names in the field. The best part is, you can hear all of these sessions from the comfort of your own home.  A ticket also includes downloads to all of the sessions afterwards, a huge swag bag of free goodies, and lots of door prizes!

I am grateful for the abundant resources for homeschooling families out there. I am in awe each day that God has put me on this path, and am encouraged more and more as I continue my journey.

I am looking ahead to purse further writing and hopefully speaking engagements.  My next step is to write some e-books which  will be available on this site!  I can’t wait to get started.  Are there certain things you would like to see in an e-book? Simplifying home? Homeschool? Meals? Devotional books?  Please comment below. I’d love to have your input!

Be Blessed!
Karen

The Mistakes I Have Made

There have been many along the way in my homeschooling journey. If my mistakes can be used to help others, than I guess they are not necessarily mistakes. After all, I have learned so much from them.
This year we had a really good year in our homeschool, but as I look back I see where I have fallen short, and where there is room for improvement.
So rather than wallow in my mistakes or beat myself up, I am making a list of my mistakes that can be learned from…
1. Comparing myself to what everyone else is doing.
