Simply...Living For Him

He Makes All Things New

You know the feeling we all have when we get something new? Maybe we waited for it for a while. Maybe it was an impulse buy. Or maybe it was a guilty pleasure. Regardless, there is that excitement and initial delight when we get something new.

But like all things in this world, the newness soon wears off, and the novelty of the thing fades away, and that new thing becomes just another thing. Eventually, even an old thing.

The excitement of it is gone, and most likely replaced with something else. A new desire. A new want.

The beauty of this is that although every single thing we see on this earth is temporal and it will fade away, we will not. God declares us new creations, yet instead of wearing down and fading away like those new shiny objects, we are becoming sanctified and holy and working toward something even better. Our bodies are wearing away but WE are new and we will not fade.

While the world and all that is in it slowly fades, those who are in Christ are being sanctified and rather than fading, we are being transformed into something even better.

Oh, the comfort in knowing that we will not wear away, we will not wither, we will not die! We are growing toward a new life that God himself has provided for us.

for “All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers and the flower falls, but the word of the Lord remains forever.” And this word is the good news that was preached to you. 1 Peter 1:24-25

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:15

When he made us new creations, we were completely renovated. Our old selves were torn down, not just prettied up or fixed. But completely and utterly transformed and changed! We do not have to live as the old, but as our new creation in Christ. The one that is free and the one that will exist for eternity.

Oh, how beautiful a thought! May we rest in the fact that as the life we see around us is broken, wearing out daily, and full of trials, we ARE new creations.

We are new and we will be whole, complete, and restored forever!
