Let’s Stop Just Hanging in There

It seems that nowadays it is the usual answer we reply when someone asks how we are doing.

“Oh, just hanging in there.”

It’s our mommy mantra. It’s what we do. We hang in there.

The days fly by, the routine becomes mundane, the chaos seems to grow. The children exhaust us. Life exhausts us.

And we hang in there.

Sometimes by a thread.

Yet, Jesus doesn’t want us to just hang in there. He wants us to soar.

but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31

Did you catch that? Those who hope in the Lord, RENEW their strength. They are not weary.

So why are we all walking around weary? Run down. Just hanging in…because we are doing it by our own strength. We put our hope in ourselves, and not in Him.

Yes, I know you have an infant that doesn’t sleep.
Or your homeschool is overwhelming. Or your disobedient child is giving you a run for your money. Your husband is not on board. The bills aren’t getting paid. The dishes pile up and the laundry is out of control. And you just want a nap. A really long nap. I’ve been there. I know. I’m with you.

Yet, where is Jesus in all of that?
He doesn’t want us living day in and day out just existing. He wants us SOARING.

AND THERE ARE SEASONS OF OUR LIFE WHEN ALL WE CAN DO IS HANG IN.

But we are not meant to stay there. Day after day.

I know you want to tell me that I have no idea how hard it is…that you can only just hang in there. I know. That’s what I would say too…But then I remember that everything I am complaining about and striving for, and tiring myself over…

Jesus already hung on a cross for me.

And because of that, I have every reason to be filled with joy, and peace, and renewed strength.

So, let’s stop just hanging in there. Let us remember that Jesus came to give us life, and give it abundantly!

Life is short. It goes by fast. I don’t want to look back when the sun sets on my life and say, “Well, I hung in each day. I just barely made it.”

I want to say, “I lived my life for Jesus! It was glorious! It was tough, but He gave me strength! I lived abundantly and with joy!”

Let’s soar like the eagle and live like it.

Ps. I was giving myself a pity party today, and posted this on facebook:
I have seen many people, including myself, dealing with yuckiness today- spiritual attack, doubt, fear, you name it….Can we have a big collective..>Satan get BEHIND me right now? Let’s all shout JESUS! His name is POWERFUL!!!! Shout it with me?!! He is MIGHTY AND POWERFUL and IS ON THE THRONE!!! Let’s banish every thought that is not from Him, every fear and every doubt! JESUS WINS.”

Yes? Jesus wins. Now, go soar.
