25 Days of Simple Christmas-Singing Christmas Praises!

Welcome to the 25 Days of Simple Christmas!  Each day I will be posting an idea about keeping the holidays simple- so that we can focus on Christ and the real meaning of Christmas!

While Christmas is such a special day, so much of the joy gets lost in the busyness.
Each day I will be writing about a simple way to celebrate the season.  To focus on family, joy, and memories, without the elaborate extras that can bring added stress. Simple can be more meaningful if it gives us more time to focus on the huge GIFT we are awaiting-Jesus Christ, our Savior.

Today I am writing about the simple act of praise.

Most mornings after our Bible time, we will sing worship songs. We usually sing praise and worship songs or some of the old hymns.  It is always a sweet time to start our day. Puts me in a good mood starting out this way!

Now that it is Christmas season, in order to focus on Jesus, we are singing Christmas songs every morning.

Some of our favorties:

Go Tell It On the Mountain!
Away in the Manger
Joy to the World
Hark the Herald Angels Sing

Starting our day with Bible, prayer, and song is really helpful to keep our days focused.

One day last week our schedule was off for whatever reason, and we skipped this time. Our whole day was not one of the best~
Later on, I realized that we hadn’t started the day with the Lord, and I was sure that was part of it.

It doesn’t have to be elaborate- read the Bible, pray, and and sing.
As long as our hearts are turned toward Him first thing in the morning, it is enough…and there is no better way, then doing it as a family.

I encourage you to start each and everyday with your children focused on the Lord.  If you haven’t been doing so, then during this beautiful Christmas season is a great time to start.

Sing for joy in the LORD, O you righteous ones; Praise is becoming to the upright. Give thanks to the LORD with the lyre; sing praises to Him with a harp of ten strings …
Psalm 33:1-3.
