Incredible Bible Resources

We have just finished up two incredible resources within the past weeks:

“A is for Adam” from Answers in Genesis,
 and Little Pilgrim’s Progress {adapted from the classic}

We started our school day each day with “A is for Adam.”  This book is divided up by each letter of the alphabet. What worked so well for our family was that there was a coloring picture and rhyme for each letter, but then in the back of the book was a detailed and excellent explanation of each letter.  So there was something for all ages.  We photocopied the coloring page of the letter and rhyme, and while I read the explanation in the back, the little ones colored.  And listened.  Even Ethan (2) sat and listened attentively.  We would then look up the verses from each lesson and read from the Bible together.

The book takes you through creation, the flood, and ultimately Revelation, detailing for the kids how these are not just “stories” but accurate, historical, literal events.

Answers in Genesis has many resources available, all of which are biblically sound apologetics. I had the privilege of hearing Ken Ham in person speak last year at the CHAP convention.  His materials are very biblically sound and he does not waiver on the Bible being 100% accurate. We hope to make a stop at the Creation Museum on our road trip this summer!

So, after we would finish our “A is for Adam” lesson each day, we would then read from “Little Pilgrim’s Progress.”  What an amazing book. It has been adapted from the classic and it is just a beautiful book in every way.  It takes you on a journey with “Christian,” the main character, and his quest for the Celestial City.  The conversations this book brought up between the kids and I was priceless.  Each day they would beg for one more chapter of the book, which I read aloud to them.  Afterwards we would discuss the imagery and the metaphors in the book.  It really helped the kids think about their faith on so many deeper levels.

I can’t recommend these books enough. They are just so good.  The only problem is, now that they are finished, finding something else to read in the mornings that compares to these two!  So far, we haven’t found anything to quite compare.

Both of these books be ordered through Amazon. com by clicking the links below.  I highly recommend them to all looking for resources for Bible time.
