Simple Church at Home…Hurricane Irene and Lessons Learned…
Since our area was hit with Hurricane Irene today, our family held church at home. My husband prepared a little mini sermon for our family. It was a very sweet time.
He related the account of Noah(how appropriate) to the New Testament. He talked about how Noah obeyed God, didn’t question God (even among so much adversity) and he and his family were saved. Even the animals obeyed God.
He related the door on the ark to John 10:9, where it says Jesus is the only gate to salvation. The only door that leads to eternal life.
The ark had only one way in-the door.
And after a certain time it was shut. And those on the outside perished.
I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved.
He will come in and go out, and find pasture.
John 10:9
Just like Noah, we must obey-God has given us all the instructions we need (as he gave Noah).
We have the Bible. It is all we need. Not man’s interpretation, not rituals, not man made rules. It is God’s Word that we need.
Nothing more, nothing less.
And His Word clearly states we are to obey and to accept Jesus as our door to eternal life.
It is so hard to always obey especially when amidst adversity.
Just like Noah, though, we must do what God tells us.
I am so grateful for a simple church service at home with my family. For a husband sharing wisdom.
