Many things lately have had me thinking about how much perspective matters. I talked about it a bit in my recent post “If My House is Messy…”
That one really seemed to hit home with many people, because when we shift our perspective, it matters so much.
We have had some tragedies in our church family these past few weeks and it has made me think about perspective.
For instance…
My husband was on a missions trip with our youth group. It was a rough week at home for us, and we were counting the days until he returned. At some points I think I was counting the minutes…
Well, they finally returned, and our joy was quickly turned into tears…one of the teens from the trip passed away suddenly, instantly, just a few hours after they had returned home.
Here I was counting the days until the trip was over…had I only known I was counting down the last few days of this sweet boy’s life…
Then, at his funeral our pastor made the most beautiful analogy…
He said death is like watching a ship sail off into the horizon. For us here, on earth we see the ship disappear on the horizon. But what we don’t see, is those awaiting the ship’s arrival on the other side. And for those of us who believe in Jesus, we have a whole heavenly host awaiting our arrival on the other side. What a joyous site!
And lastly, we had a dear sweet woman pass away this week from our church family. One family member described her passing as leaving the loving arms of her husband (he told her goodbye in his arms as she passed…) but at that instant she entered the loving arms of her Father.
Perspective….
So whether it be in huge moments such as tragedy, death, disease…or in the little moments in homeschooling, parenting, or daily life…
A rain storm…may be the answer to a drought…
A delay of a moment, may avoid tragedy elsewhere…
Children’s noise…is better than what can be a house filled with silence…
An empty bank account, gives the opportunity to depend on HIM…
A busy week filled with busyness, gives another an opportunity to make you a meal, lend a hand…be a blessing…
A prayer seemingly unanswered, gets answered in HIS time, HIS way…always the best way…
Perspective matters. Its so important to look at things in the proper perspective. It can change everything, and turn our hearts where they need to be….Simply Living…for Him!
