Simply...Living For Him

Busyness…

The Bible says that the love of money is the root of all evil. (1 Tim 6:7-10)  And it is. I firmly believe that.

But a close second in my book is busyness.  This leads to distraction.  And it leads to a false sense of accomplishment.

A filling up but never being filled…

Many people fill their families/ schedules up with so many activites, that they don’t have time to be a family anymore.  A huge problem in America these days, because with the breakdown a family unit, there will be breakdown in society. We see that already.

But busyness is a crafty snake…slithering in even when we are on guard…
We don’t even have to be running from activity to activity, We can be busy even when our schedules are not full.  By this I mean, keeping our minds preoccupied, our days filled with unnecessaries.

While our hands should not be idle as it says in Proverbs (Prov. 19:15), we must be careful if our work or busyness is not producing fruit.

I often keep things in an eternal perspective (or at least try to).  I am always evaluating how much something really matters.  Is this really worth my time, and what fruit is produced by it?  Ashamedly, much of our time is spent on fruitless tasks.

I have been asking God over and over these days to make me not distracted.  Make me focus on Him.  Let my busyness be of the fruitful type.  Often times I think we are keeping ourselves busy to gain a false sense of accomplishment.

But what is our main accomplishment?  The chief end of man is to glorify God, right? So if 90% of our times is spent in things not glorifying HIM, we need to reevaluate.

I want to give Him 100%.  Not just a portion.  I want it all to be for Him, and then my life will be a reflection of Him.  Not easy in a  world that either doesn’t understand, or is too busy to want to understand.

The world says put yourself first, do for yourself…but the Bible says put others first, put Him first.

I want to sell out to Him, not to the world.

What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul?  (Matthew 16:26)

Today my prayer is to not be too busy or distracted.  To put Him first in all I do, and the rest will be given unto me…Matthew 6:33.

How do you deal with busyness in your life? Share in the comments below, I’d love to hear.  And we can pray together to all simplify so that we may see HIM more clearly.
