Simply...Living For Him

Focus on Truth, and getting rid of distractions…

This is a hard post to write.  But it’s based on truth.

Our world is so complicated, but we really have ALL the knowledge we need to live- The Bible.
It should be our first and only source of how we should be living out our life.

I think our lives get so complicated when we start listening to all of the distractions the world has to offer.  The latest news story, the newest “self-help” book (even the Christian ones), what our friends tell us, etc.

But we are called to put God first.  And He speaks to us through His Word.  We should be lining up our lives in accordance to His Scripture.  If we make decisions based on how we feel, we are bound to mess up.  But if we follow His Word, we are truly living the life God has intended for us.

That means, not following the world on so many issues…that means not going along with things, just because that is what the world does.

As Christians we are  called to live for Him, even if that makes us different.  In fact, we should stand out.  We should look different, because we live different.

God tells us PARENTS must raise our children up, not schools, or other leaders in the community.

(Deuteronomy 6:7)

God tells us how a marriage should look, not the latest magazine or psychologist.

(Ephesians 5:22)

God tells us how the church should look, not the latest Christian books out there, or any
manmade rules.
(Hebrews 10:24-25; Matthew 8 6:5-8; Matthew 16:18)

We can’t just take the parts we like and leave out the rest, because it is not comfortable. God did not call us to be comfortable, in fact He said following Him will not be comfortable.

If we take the parts we like and leave out some, we are actually denying it all.  Because it is ALL truth.

I am so often tossed like a wave (Ephesians 4:14), getting distracted by the world, worried about what certain people think.  Family, friends, even strangers.  I don’t want to offend them or have them think I am strange.

But I must remember, I live for an audience of ONE.
And that is God.
And I will answer to only HIM some day.  Not people.

The Bible never changes.  The world is constantly changing, constantly telling us what is normal or not.  The Bible has not changed and never will.

I personally think I will stick with the Bible!

I am making a conscious effort to truly go to scripture to make decisions, and to seek God’s Word. We must be like the Bereans who compared all teachings to God’s Word. (Acts 17:11)

And to do this, I must know God’s Word.  I must memorize, study, and know it.  That is a goal of mine right now.

I don’t want to have anything distract me from the Truth!!
