Ok, so we are having a HUGE garage sale at our church this weekend. For the past week, the kids and I have been helping in full force everyday and all day. This garage sale is IMMENSE. It makes our World Vision Garage Sale look teeny tiny!! All proceeds to this sale will go towards out church getting a much needed new roof.
This week has been exhausting to say the least. Yet it has been fun, working with other ladies, sorting through all the goodies, and having lots of fellowship. The kids have been helping too. Lots of “real life” learning going on! Grace has been helping take care of Ethan while I set up the sale. I offered her $1 per hour. One day she got bored after 2 hours, but I explained that she was not doing it for fun, but to help out and she was earning money. It has also helped the kids see first hand the fruit of our labors. Seeing everyone working together, serving the Lord, and doing it in a spirit of service is really good for them to see.
Grace and John also baked for a bake sale at the garage sale. Tomorrow Grace will be helping as much as she can. I told her that her main job is to serve cheerfully and serve where she is needed most. Not what is most fun! She will hopefully do this tomorrow!
I have learned that even though I am physically tired, I am serving the Lord with a glad heart. I pray He blesses are efforts this weekend far beyond our expectations!
